In commemoration of National Statistics Day (Hari Statistik Nasional) on September 26, the Central Statistics Agency (Badan Pusat Statistik or BPS) of Palu City organized various activities, including a sports week and social service. For this year's sports activity, BPS hosted a Table Tennis Cup, which was attended by government agencies, TNI/Polri (Indonesian military and police), organizations, and banks.GA Nasser, the Head of BPS Palu City, stated that the Sports Week and Social Service provide a strong emphasis on the importance of developing the potential and creativity of BPS civil servants. This is aimed at instilling self-confidence in statisticians and fostering professionalism, integrity, and trustworthiness (PIA) while proudly serving the nation.Additionally, he encouraged BPS personnel to have an open mindset in addressing various challenges in the era of disruption, so that BPS can contribute positively to society in the future."As part of HSN 2023, BPS Palu City, along with the statistics community, carried out several activities, including a sports week featuring table tennis. For social service, activities included planting 1000 mangroves, blood donation, a walkathon, visits to orphanages, and a culminating ceremony or HSN assembly," said GA Nasser to MAL Online on Saturday (September 16).According to Nasser, the Table Tennis Championship, known as BPS Kota Palu Cup 2023, took place at the BPS Province and involved participants from various institutions, organizations, and the community."The table tennis championship aims to build friendships and strengthen ties between institutions, organizations, and the community. We received assistance from the Indonesian Table Tennis Association (Persatuan Tenis Meja seluruh Indonesia or PTMSI) Sulteng, as well as support from BSI and others like Hotel Paramasu, who are enthusiasts of table tennis," he added.BPS Palu City hopes that this tournament can also serve as a means of nurturing talented table tennis athletes and increasing the public's interest in the sport."On this occasion, we urge participants to be sportsmanlike in the competition. Make this competition an avenue for self-actualization and the expression of skills and talents, but always uphold the values of friendship, camaraderie, and brotherhood," said the Head of BPS Palu City.Meanwhile, Rizal Mucthar, the Representative of the Indonesian Table Tennis Association (PTMSI) for Central Sulawesi Province, appreciated the activities organized by BPS Palu City. He noted that table tennis championships are rarely organized by government agencies or private entities. With the staging of this event, it is hoped that it will boost enthusiasm for sports, especially in the field of table tennis."It should be noted that for the people of Central Sulawesi, table tennis has successfully qualified for the 21st National Sports Week (PON) in Medan-Aceh in 2024," he mentioned."Please note that this is a translation of the text you provided.
