Abstract

Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, 44 cities experienced inflation and 38 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kudus City by 0.82 percent and the lowest in Pare-pare City by 0.04 percent. Bau-Bau City experienced the highest deflation of 2.10 percent, while Tegal City experienced the lowest deflation of 0.02 percent. The city of Palu ranks 8th in the highest inflation in the Sulampua region and 22nd in the nation.

The increase in the price index occurred in the foodstuffs group (2.78 percent), followed by the clothing group (0.86 percent), education, recreation and sports (0.23 percent), processed foods, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco (0.13 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel (0.07 percent). While those who experienced a price index decline were the transportation, communication and financial services group (2.01 percent) and the health group (0.04 percent).

The calendar year inflation in August 2019 against December 2018 was 1.75 percent, while year on year inflation (August 2019 against August 2018) was 4.79 percent.
