Abstract

  • Out of 82 national CPI monitoring cities, 79 cities experienced inflation while 3 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Tual City of 4.48 percent, while the highest deflation occurred in Singaraja City by 0.64 percent. The city of Palu experienced inflation of 0.76 percent, ranked 17th highest in the region of Sulampua and 47th nationally.
  • The highest increase in price index occurred in the transport, communication and financial services group (3.10 percent), followed by housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel (1.12 percent), clothing (0.49 percent) Health (0.39 percent), education, recreation, and sports (0.25 percent), and finished food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.05 percent). While in the same period the foodstuff category experienced a deflation of 0.74 percent.
  • The inflation rate for calendar year up to June 2017 is 3.94 percent, while inflation year on year (June 2017 to June 2016) in Palu is 5.23 percent.
