PALU – Inflation in the city of Palu, Central Sulawesi, is relatively low. In September 2023, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded inflation reaching 0.11 percent.
Head of BPS Palu, G. A. Nasser, said that this figure was lower and more controlled compared to August which reached 0.13 percent.
He explained that low and stable inflation could encourage economic growth in Palu.
Meanwhile, price increases can be an indicator of people's purchasing power.
Nasser said that controlling inflation is not only the task of BPS, but also of Bank Indonesia and the Regional Government.
The Head of BPS Palu said that Bank Indonesia as the monetary authority was assisted by the Regional Government in supporting programs and policy makers.
"The regional government also has a report related to controlling inflation, one of which, apart from monitoring prices, is by making efforts such as cheap markets so that traders don't go around juggling prices," said Head of BPS Palu, Nasser, when interviewed by Newsimages, Wednesday, October 5 2023 .
According to him, cheap markets which are often held by the government can also suppress and control inflation.
This can be proven by achieving low inflation from January to September 2023 of 1.47 percent. (Nur Safitri)
