LAYANA INDAH, MERCUSUAR – Commemorating National Statistics Day (HSN), the Statistical Community, BPS Palu City, and BSI Palu Area held mangrove planting at Dupa Beach, Layana Indah Village, Mantikulore District, Tuesday (19/9/2023).
Head of Palu City BPS, GA Nasser, said that the number of mangrove plants planted to commemorate HSN was 1000 mangroves, with the aim of protecting the coastal ecosystem in the Dupa Beach area.
"We invite the Statistical Community along with Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) in Palu City and the Mangrovers Community to plant mangroves in coastal marine areas that were eroded during the 2018 disaster. In 2021 we have planted mangroves with BRIN and now the mangrove plants have grown," he said .
Head of BPS Central Sulawesi Province, Simon Sapari, appreciated this mangrove planting activity as a form of concern for environmental sustainability. Moreover, Palu City has experienced natural disasters, so the presence of mangroves can minimize tsunamis in coastal areas.
"We appreciate this activity, which was initiated by BPS Palu City, as a form of attention to the surrounding environment. It is hoped that this activity can be useful for protecting coastal areas from seawater abrasion," he said.
Head of the Palu City Environmental Service (DLH), Muhammad Arief, welcomed this activity, because it helps the Palu City Government in protecting beaches from abrasion or tsunami disasters like 2018. The Palu City Government has planted thousands of mangroves to preserve the coastal environment and collaboration with other parties is very important. help in accelerating the planting process. HI
